Accident at an intersection are among the most common location for vehicular collisions. An intersection accident refers to any type of Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) that occurs at or near the junction of two or more roadways. No, left-turning vehicles are not always at fault, though they are in the majority of cases because they generally must yield to oncoming traffic. However, liability can be shared or even fall on the oncoming driver if that driver was speeding, running a red light, or distracted, among other factors. Ultimately, fault is determined by the specific circumstances of the accident. In 2017 there were 1,637 collisions in Edmonton caused by a vehicle turning left across the path of oncoming traffic.
