There are many forms of distracted driving. Many think that distracted driving has to do with the cell phone only. The Traffic Safety Act sets out things that you are not allowed to do while driving and are considered offences under Alberta law.
Traffic Safety Act
Alberta Traffic Safety Act was most recently revised in 2024 and covers all of the rules of the roads in Alberta. This Act promotes safety on the province’s highways, the definition of which includes any street, road, sidewalk or bridge that the public is ordinarily entitled or permitted to use. There are eight parts or sections of the Traffic Safety Act in Alberta, and the document is over 200 pages.
