Introduction to Car Insurance – Section B

Accident Benefits (also referred to as Section B coverage) is part of your own policy of car insurance, or the policy of a vehicle owner or driver. Alberta’s “Section B” of car insurance provides mandatory, no-fault accident benefits for injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident, regardless of fault. These mandatory benefits cover most medical expenses, disability income, and funeral expenses with limitations. Benefits are available to drivers, passengers, cyclists, and pedestrians who are injured, and you must submit a claim to your own insurer to receive them.
